BBL S4 – Getting to Know the Coaches: Eauxps I. Fourgott

This series will help coaches and spectators, old and new alike, get a better idea of who each of the participating coaches is from a BBL standpoint. We asked the coaches a set of questions about their experiences with Backyard Baseball and the BBL:

Eauxps I. Fourgott

Preferred Alias/Nickname: Eauxps

Any details on your life outside of the BBL that you would like to share? Not really

How long have you been playing Backyard Baseball? How did you get started with it? I don’t remember the exact year, but I think it was in 2003 that my dad got us Backyard Baseball 2003. Been playing it off and on since then – I still have that CD and manual.

What’s your preferred version of Backyard Baseball? I think that for almost any given person, the correct answer to this question is the one that they grew up playing. For me, that’s 2003 – I wouldn’t want to give up the extra fields, updated music, or presence of Ichiro and Pujols to roll back to another version.

What’s your favorite field? Depends on my mood. I like all of them pretty well except Playground Commons and Casa De Pablo.

What’s your favorite team to play as? Melonheads

What’s your favorite real-life team? The Atlanta Braves, since childhood.

Who’s your favorite Backyard Kid? This is a tough question, since I love the Backyard Kids as a whole, but if I had to choose one it’d be Luanne Lui. She’s just so adorable, and her incredible speed is always an asset.

Who’s your favorite Pro Kid? Chipper Jones. Maybe not to play with, but out of sentimentality.

Who’s your favorite generic player (if you have one)? I’ll always have a soft spot for Chucky Flinder after winning the Ace Wilson with him.

How did you get into the BBL? I just so happened to join the BYB subreddit less than a week before Yurya announced sign ups for Season 3. It was a pretty quick decision for me to hop on board.

Briefly explain your history in the BBL. I started last season, where I coached the Super-Duper Melonheads and the Seattle Mariners. Both teams finished eighth out of twelve teams in their leagues, their greatest success coming when the Melonheads made it to the second round of the Tier 2 consolation playoffs. However, I did achieve one notable feat by leading eighth-round draft pick Chucky Flinder to the all-time record for innings pitched and the Ace Wilson (pitching) award.

What are your hopes and/or expectations for this season? I’m not expecting to be a top contender – if nothing else, the number of silly mistakes I make would rule out consistently beating the best coaches. But last season I had a fan favorite squad in the Melonheads, and I hope to continue that legacy this season, especially as I start streaming my games live. And maybe, just maybe, I can up my game a little bit and be a little more competitive.
